Sony thought it would be a smart move to hire a comic book fan to direct the movie so they called Sam Raimi. In the end, he was the director of all the three Spiderman films namely Spiderman, Spiderman 2 and Spiderman 3. The lead role was played by Tobey Maguire and his love interest Mary Jane Watson was Kirsten Dunst. Raimi's trilogy had a budget of $597 million and was able to gross nearly $2.5 billion dollars worldwide. The Amazing Spiderman is a reboot from Sam Raimi's films and is directed by Marc Webb.
